What is the Gospel?

Gospel simply means “good news.” It centers around Jesus Christ, his life, teachings, death and resurrection. It tells the story of how humanity fell out of favour with God due to Sin, but through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and resurrection, people can be reconciled with God and experience salvation.

Who is God?

There is one God, eternally existing in three persons – The Father, The Son and Holy Spirit.

Who are we?

We are a group of Christians who gather together to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in Blackburn, Lancashire. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that through repentance and faith in Him, all may receive eternal life and the forgiveness of sins.

What we believe?

  • God is sovereign in creation, redemption and judgement.
  • The Holy Bible is God’s living and inspired word through which we can discover Him. It is central to all we believe and do as a church.
  • Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary and led a sinless life.
  • The whole of humankind is sinful, guilty and subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.
  • Sinful human beings can be saved from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death and shed blood of their substitute, Jesus Christ.
  • The Holy Spirit alone makes the work of Christ effective to individual sinners, enabling them to turn to God from their sin and by faith, trust in Jesus Christ.
  • Jesus Christ conquered death when He rose from the dead and will return again for His church.

Our Mission

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.

Mark 16:15-16 (KJV)

Creation . Fall . Redemption . Restoration .

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

John 3 v 16-18 (KJV)
